Executive Summary
In August 2023, I led the end-to-end execution of the SPLC Summit, a premier national sustainability conference convening 400+ industry leaders, 70+ speakers, and 30+ exhibiting partners over three days in Atlanta, Georgia. As the Director of Marketing & Events, I was responsible for designing and delivering a branded, values-driven experience focused on sustainable purchasing and organizational accountability.
Despite being fully remote, I successfully managed vendor relationships, executed real-time decision-making, and built an on-site team to ensure flawless delivery—proving that high-impact event leadership is not limited by location.
My Role: Director, Event Strategy & Execution
I owned the full lifecycle of the SPLC Summit with an emphasis on operational excellence, brand alignment, and measurable engagement. My scope included:
Program & Speaker Strategy: Curated a high-caliber agenda featuring 70+ thought leaders and industry pioneers in sustainable procurement.
On-Site Experience Design: Led all logistics for Loews Atlanta, including space planning, AV coordination, vendor oversight, and sponsor branding.
Remote Project Management: Navigated the complexities of planning a large-scale national event remotely through advanced workflows, tech integration, and proactive vendor collaboration.
Sponsorship Activation: Delivered tailored sponsor packages that aligned with brand values and increased visibility throughout the conference.
Post-Event Analytics: Deployed surveys and engagement dashboards to deliver insights that informed SPLC’s long-term programming.
Challenges Overcome
Planning and executing a national summit from a remote position presented unique challenges that required agility, innovation, and strategic communication:
Remote Production Leadership: Coordinated with vendors, hotel staff, and on-site contractors across time zones and locations—building trust and cohesion with teams I didn’t meet in person until showtime.
Brand Experience at Scale: Delivered a seamless, high-quality in-person experience that reflected SPLC’s mission and reputation in the sustainable business space.
Speaker & Stakeholder Management: Balanced a diverse group of speakers, sponsors, and exhibitors with varying needs and expectations—all remotely.
Data-Driven Planning: Used historical data and digital tools to make evidence-based decisions without on-the-ground access in the months leading up to the event.
Measurable Results & Impact
300+ Attendees: Professionals from corporate, public sector, nonprofit, and academic sectorss
70+ Speakers: Representing sustainability leaders, procurement experts, and industry innovators.
92% Attendee Satisfaction: Based on post-event survey, indicating strong alignment between content, experience, and attendee expectations.
30+ Exhibitors: With high sponsor engagement and excellent feedback on fulfillment.
National Reach: Positioned SPLC as a leading voice in sustainable procurement while strengthening relationships across sectors.
